Standard Chartered Great City
Race 2014

A Team of four from our London Office; Lucius Peart, Barry Whatley, Sian Williams and Neil MacMahon, took part in the Standard Chartered Great City Race on 10th July 2014.

This unique 5km corporate running challenge takes place around the City of London. All funds raised go to Seeing is Believing, an initiative to help tackle avoidable blindness around the world, and will be matched by Standard Chartered pound for pound. Every team of four who entered this year’s race provided enough funding to train 1 health worker in Primary Eye Care.

Trade Park CGI

We know computer generated illustrations have been around for ages but they’re still a brilliant way of communicating planning concepts to potential tenants and purchasers. This Cedar generated image of a new Business/Trade Park in Fareham is a perfect example of just how well they can work. The detail even extends to the bus waiting at the bus stop and the articulated lorries in the distance.

“They showed how trained beauty experts and a supporting cast helped to cement the brand success in M&S.”

You guys were very much part of that supporting cast, so cheers!”

“Wow thanks ever so much, starting to look just how we envisaged!!! The drawings look great and not at all dated as I feared. Yippee!!!”

What a week that was

The construction of a gigantic 6ft by 4ft jigsaw puzzle, the production of a set of luggage tags the size of billboard posters (complete with rope “string”) and the design of a crazy flying zip wire owl. That‘s the bizarre world of marketing and promotion for ya - and just another week in the office for the boys and girls at Cedar.

It’s awards time of year again

Projects the Cedar Group helped to initiate for a client are up for a couple of national marketing awards. We’ve got our fingers, toes and eyes crossed.

A resounding success

“Phew! It‘s all done…and it was a resounding success. Thank you (and to your team) for the support and for producing materials that helped our conference in both visual and practical ways to convey its theme of ‘Making a Difference’. We looked professional. We sounded professional.
And we had fun.”

Isle of Wight project gets
the green light

The Cedar Group is producing the marketing material for a new marine park to be located on the River Medina. The development will feature a 200 tonne hoist dock, jetty and waiting pontoon. If you've been wondering how you're going to clean the hull of your new super yacht - this could be the answer you've been looking for.

The Cedar Group is doing its bit for charity by sponsoring a client who’s entering this year’s “Bangers4Ben”. It’s a 4-day event starting at Porsche’s headquarters in Reading on October 12, with the final destination being the Porsche museum in Stuttgart in Germany. Each entrant must buy a car valued at £500 or more and at the end of the event all the vehicles will be sold to raise money for the BEN charity.

You can find out more here.

Go-ahead on new
development branding

Cedar gets the instruction to name, brand and produce all the marketing material for a new housing development just outside Southampton.

“All the stuff you’ve done for the conference looks great, by the way. I’m in our London office and got my mitts on it all. Fab job!”

Recon Team Endor

Every now and again a job comes into Cedar that is a pure joy to print. In this case, a stunning limited edition print for this year’s European Star Wars Celebration. Not surprisingly the prints sold out within days.

An important event requires
beautiful graphics

We’ve just completed a series of designs for a company’s 20th anniversary - including mug graphics, which we ‘handled’ with ease. See what we did there?

A beautiful summer makes for stunning aerial photography

“James has forwarded us the draft brochure, which I think looks great. Thank you so much for your efforts on this. I think in particular the aerial photo works well and gives a good impression of the site and its locality. We will probably need to make some minor amendments to it, but generally it is just what we wanted.”

Throwing the spotlight on the
UK’s young creative talent

Creating innovative marketing initiatives can often lead to unexpected results - in this instance to three remarkably talented street dancers.

Young, gifted and beautiful - we have no idea what she’s doing here - but she’s already made herself invaluable by creating some fab artwork, baking cakes and supplying endless Chupa Chups.

Heaven sent

If you haven’t heard about it - ask us about it. We’ve just printed a new magazine for a client on GF Smith’s Heaven 42 paper. It smashes any preconceptions of what a ‘silk’ paper should look and feel like - awesome.

200 acre technical park
gets the green light

The Cedar Group has just been asked to get closely involved in the branding and marketing of a new 200 acre site. To be developed over the coming months and years, the site is expected to become one of the south’s leading business/marine/technical parks.

Merger triggers website redesign

A Dorset based firm of solicitors have selected the Cedar Group to redesign their website after successfully merging with a number of other law firms in the area. The stunning new site makes it faster and more intuitive for the user to search for information and a greater emphasis is placed on the social media interactions available through the site.

Transforming floor plans from the uninteresting to the truly inspiring

Trying to figure out what a house might look like from traditional 2D floor plans can be hard work and a tad confusing. That’s why a leading house builder uses Cedar to turn flat technical plans into illustrations that live and breathe - homes that you can actually imagine living in.

Create a point of difference
in a crowded market

Cedar is to help with the creative concepts for a national supermaket chain. The brief is to develop a
number of ideas that could potentially drive customers into specific stores in selected locations.

Three out of three ain’t bad

3 commercial property brochure projects and 3 lots of aerial photography required.
The question is - do you know the location of each of the 3 shots? Answers on a postcard please to the usual address…

in less than 7 hours

Working directly with the Cabinet Office, the Cedar Group project managed and produced display items for the 10 Downing Street press launch of the Government’s Mid Term Review Project.

Part of the brief included the production of a 52 page document and a supporting 122 page online annex. Web accessible PDFs were made for both publications and the final copy was extracted and uploaded to the Government’s WordPress web site.

Everything was produced and delivered on schedule and budget over a two week period which included Christmas and New Year. In less than 7 hours of uploading - the main document had over 40,000 downloads and the annex over 16,000.

All the precision
of a military operation

A break in the weather today enabled a full photographic assault on industrial premises just outside New Milton in Hampshire. On the ground Simon’s cameras clicked throughout the complex, whilst in the sky, a specially chartered aircraft wheeled overhead with lensman Chris capturing the site and the surrounding area. Did we get the shots for the marketing brochure? “Veni, vidi, vici” as we say in the trade.

Hitting the ground running

With Christmas and the New Year already a distant memory and clients keen to crack on with new business in 2013, we’re already getting involved with a number of exciting projects. Marketing reports compiled, costings underway, creative visuals on the drawing board and the presses almost at capacity - happy days!

In the immortal words of
Noddy Holder…

Well, we’re almost there again and my how time’s flown. In the immortal words of Noddy Holder, “It’s CHRISTMAS!!!!” For those of you who will be working over the Christmas and New Year period - join the club - it’s a good job there’s you and us to keep the wheels of industry turning. For those of you lucky enough to have time off, have a great time, look after yourself and love the ones you love! So until the New Year, from all of us - just to you - have a very happy holiday.

A new design for a bigger audience

The Cedar group has just got the nod to completely re-design an international magazine we’ve been producing for a couple of years now. In addition to the design overhaul, the client is looking to increase the print run ten-fold in 2013. With encouraging signs from many of our clients - we’re already starting to look forward to next year.

The creative spark

Australian brand and marketing consultancy ‘Fire Brand’ use the Cedar Group to design an online brochure for one of their fire safety clients. It might seem a long way to come to do business but they really appreciate our creative spark - and we’re only the click of a mouse away!

What is it with awards - nothing happens for months and then three come along at once?

Once again we are delighted to have helped one of our clients to win national recognition in their market sector. This time ‘Fizz’ entered this year’s Field Marketing & Brand Experience Awards and came away with the Gold for ‘Best sampling and/or demonstration at retail’. There must be something in the water here in Romsey that’s conducive to creativity.

Cedar is pleased to have played a part in their success

Jones Lang LaSalle has topped the South Coast Office Agents League Table, having disposed circa 159,000 sq ft of office accommodation on the M27 in the last 12 months. The results were announced in the recent Hampshire Feature issue of The Estates Gazette.

It’s almost 2013, so it must be time for the new Cedar Group calendar

The new 2013 Cedar Group Calendar is now finished and will be ready to dispatch in early December so you can transfer all your important dates over before the New Year. Entitled “Qualities, Attributes, Distinctions” it features 96 abstract slices of logos the Cedar Group has designed for various brands over the years. On the face of it, it sounds quite dull but it actually looks splendid - rather like a hi-tech version of subway/street art. Your account handler will be swinging past your office soon with your copy but if you need any more, or don’t currently use Cedar for your work but would like one anyway - simply call our sales department on 01794 525 020.

for a major Hampshire client.

Fresh ideas for clean approaches

Cedar has just successfully finished the first round of creative concepts for a new book cover. Entitled ‘Clean Approaches for Coaches’, the book explores the conditions for lasting change using clean language and symbolic meaning. The book is due to be available for purchase on Amazon before the year-end.

Helping a communications company to communicate

A Hampshire based communications consultancy has turned to the Cedar Group for a creative overhaul of its e-marketing literature. We’ve created a series of powerful, interrelated images, which suggest effortless and reliable communications. Business mobiles, calls and lines, phone systems and data connectivity have all got the Cedar treatment and the campaign is due to be rolled out in November.

From Romsey to a world-wide distribution

We’re just putting the finishing touches together on the latest edition of a regular international business traveller magazine. Some text tweaks here - some retouching there - and it will be ready to be printed and delivered to London next week.

Island Technology Park

The Cedar Group is delighted to be asked to create the brand identity for a new technology park on the Isle of White. This first part of the project will soon be followed by a suite of marketing literature and a dedicated website.

A bit of positive feedback

“I am so impressed with what you have created from a blank piece of paper. This beautiful banner has exceeded all my expectations - thank you so much.

There's no business like Cedar business!”

Catherine Barrett - Parent Governor,
West Tytherley Primary School

The Italian Job

A leading kitchen equipment manufacturer with a world-wide reputation for excellence and innovation came to the Cedar Group to design, print and deliver a set of perfect bound brochures to Italy for a conference. It had to be there, “without fail”. The job was printed over 2 days and finished over a weekend. It was picked up from Cedar on Monday and delivered straight to the conference on Tuesday. No hurtling around sewers in Minis and we didn’t even have to mess with the traffic computer software to get the job there on time - just organisational precision and perfect timing!

Home in time for tea and medals

Trust us to choose the weekend of the Bournemouth International Air Show to organise an aerial photographic shoot of a new business park we’re producing the marketing material for. But in spite of a close miss with a Vulcan V-Bomber and a half hour dogfight with a Spitfire, we managed to get the shots, landed safely and drove home in time for tea and medals.

The same but different

A marketing company we’ve been working with for quite a while has just briefed us up on a fab new website design and build project for one of their divisions. “The same but different… and even better!” was the brief - so we’re going to throw the baby out with the bath water, put the little one in a brand new bathing suit, re-fill the bath with champagne, fit gold plated taps and pop the little chap back in the bath - that should do the trick!

Bahir Dar Project

The Cedar Group has actively supported this wonderful project for more than 6 years, so we thought it high time we told you about it. The Ethiopiahope project was set up with the aim of helping to make the Bahir Dar people self-sufficient. With the help of Cedar and hundreds of other active supporters, the project helps to run a day care centre, which gives more than 200 children both food and an education and has also provided funds for over 150 house - providing families with a secure and solid home. Check out the pictures - how fab…?

If you’d like to help, you can find out more at: www.ethiopiahope.com

Solid as a rock

A blue chip sports organisation turned to Cedar to create their new season ticket holder membership campaign. Without saying too much - players emerge from a granite rock face in a coordinated suite of literature which includes indoor and outdoor promotional material, as well as a comprehensive membership pack. The new creative treatment is being worked on now ready for a launch in early September.

Osprey Quay - two into one
does go

The substantial redevelopment of the old Navy Base at Portland in Dorset requires the energy of two of the area’s leading commercial property agents. Naturally they chose the Cedar Group to coordinate the design and production of the sales material - including site signage, advertising literature and website. By keeping all aspects of production in-house we were able to provide a seamless creative service.

Rain, rain, go away

Sometimes the weather just doesn’t want to behave and two weeks of almost continuous rain doesn’t help when we’ve been commissioned to create a new brochure for a property development right on the waters edge. Still, the sun is now shining, the brochure has been designed and it’s ready to go to print. What’s the betting we need to photograph some umbrellas in the rain next week and the sun will shine ‘till Christmas...?

Very fast and able to handle complex variable data, it’s perfect for personalised mailings and compliments our existing range of digital print equipment.

A brochure that designed itself

Branding can be as much about research as it is design. In the course of marketing a beautiful little development in Wool, Dorset, we delved into the town’s history and the works of Thomas Hardy, particularly Tess of the D’Urbervilles. In the book, Hardy changed Woolbridge Manor to Wellbridge and the manor still stands today, looking down over the meandering water meadows of the River Frome. You know, sometimes a name for a development just falls into your lap? At that point, the brochure seemed to design itself.

Tree in the grounds becomes
new school logo!

“I would just like to thank you all for the excellent West Tytherley Promotional leaflet that you have so kindly produced for us. I am also really proud of our new, attractive logo. It has been very well received from parents, staff, governors and the children too and we are gradually introducing the brand across the school. Change is always tricky but who can complain about such a quality logo?”

Lights… flashguns… action!

Photo shoots always take longer than expected and the shoot we completed this week, involving a 300 seat lecture hall/auditorium/cinema complex was no exception. Balancing house lights, depth of field and numerous flashguns paid off rather well, however. Have a sneaky look-see.

A bit of positive feedback

“I think the best way to summarise the response to your pitch was when Shamus said earlier this afternoon that what you had put together would put a London agency to shame. It’s rare to see that kind of reaction to any agency presentation so your gang deserve to be spoilt - loving the work and can’t wait to see it in action.”
